• 5-6-7-8, 2-3-4-5, 9-8-7-6 – Sequential numbers are also easily guessable. Criminals are aware that most people make their codes easy to remember. This can mean that some sequences are sequential, which then narrows the guessing field down by quite a bit. Burglars will definitely give this option a try when they are trying to get into your property.
• Using a meaningful year – Some thieves are quite smart about their crimes. They research the owners, find out their birthdays or anniversaries, and keep these dates in mind when they are trying to break into their offices or homes. With social media being added into the equation, finding out these important dates is easier than ever, which makes this option more dangerous than ever before. Also, never use any part of your telephone number, street address number, or even the last four digits of your social security number, as they are all easy to find on the internet.

When setting your alarm code, make sure that you aren’t choosing a sequence of numbers just because they are easy to remember. If they are, the numbers are probably breaking one of the aforementioned rules. Make your alarm code as seemingly random as possible so that a criminal could never guess it.
